We didn’t expect to find Trini food in Binghamton and it was a very pleasant surprise. We felt like we were in Brooklyn or The Bronx, or maybe even T&T! We ordered the doubles, pholourie, bake and salt fish, and curry goat with rice and plantains and all of it was delicious. The spice level was legit and they can scale up or down depending on preference/tolerance. The food was delicious and the service was above and beyond. We will return and you should check it out! Hope you enjoy, dear reader. P.S. we didn’t get to take pictures of all of the food; we were hungry so you’re just going to have to trust us - it was all picturesque.

I'd been meaning to visit this restaurant for a while now and am incredibly glad I did. The folk working were kind and hospitable, and the space was clean and cozy. (The water tower is also much appreciated). And though I only had time to grab takeout, the interior design is lovely and the seating arrangement is quite nice. As for the food, everything I tried was delicious and well cooked. The curried shrimp was incredibly flavorful and quality. The baked mac was excellent on its own and even better in the curry sauce. And the sweet plaintain was without critique. I tend to like extra heat so I also got their house hot sauce. The most a hot sauce has humbled me yet, but worth every bite. Overall, I'd wholeheartedly recommend De Island Hut, dine-in or takeout. And try an angostura soda if you haven't, they're delightful.

Found this place while browsing Google Maps. The food was authentic and very tasty! I had the dhalpuri roti with chicken curry and a side of chhole. Everything was tasty. The restaurant is quiet, intimate and welcoming. Will go back soon. PS: they have a chili sauce made with scotch bonnet peppers. It is fantastic in taste but NOT for the uninitiated!😝

We went for dine-in as a family of five. From the beginning the service was good. The prices are reasonable. A family run business with son in the front end and his mom and sister running the kitchen. Food came out quick. We ordered a few items. Kids and adults both liked baked Mac and cheese, jerk chicken (spicy but yummy), potato and chicken curry, the two types of rotis, and some sodas/juices to buy separately out of refrigerator. Chicken stew was not my favorite but my family liked it. Please give it a try and support them. Street parking is definitely a challenge, however, there is a big paid parking garage adjacent to the store, it costed $2 for a couple of hours.

I finally got in to try this spot. I went earlier in the day when I felt I could get a parking spot more easily. The food was so good! Being from the city and working and spending time with coworkers from Trinidad, I missed the food so bad after moving up here. While there’s probably no better food than the food I ate at her cookout, this is the closest in the area. The food was absolutely delicious. They’ll ask you spice levels and the portions are generous, they’ll give you extra hot sauce too. So far I had the doubles, curry chicken, and their freshly made peanut punch. The food I split with my mom, there was plenty. Their own peanut punch was great, it has peanut butter almond milk, and cinnamon. The taste was refreshing. I highly recommend this spot, personally, I can’t wait to go back and order more. I’m eyeing the beef patty in coco bread with oxtail for my next visit. Check out their menu, and honestly, grab something in the moment but also pick something else up to have later. Once you taste their food, you’ll wish you grabbed more to have later.
